    Asunder

As a writer, of course I love diving into my own work and creating new things, but my passion came from reading and discovering what others could create. To see the limitless potential of others is inspiring. This past month, I love that I’ve been able to share a few authors with you. For our last, I present Liz Steinworth, author of the upcoming book: Something that sets Asunder apart is where it began. Liz started with a painting she made (below) and from that painting a world began to develop. When I hear her story, it reminds me of my own method and that the power of writing is…

    Blue Mage

The month has tended chaotic, but today I wanted to share Blue Mage by Amber Morant.  Her newest book, Blue Mage, has some amazing characterization. I love diving into a book and being able to feel who a character is, or who I think they are, the moment I dive in. It’s one of my favorite things to do as a writer too. Seeing who someone is, portraying them through words, is my favorite form of art and when it’s successful I can’t help but become absorbed. If you like the following, you should check out her website and her other books, Kalla and Once Upon a Time. Summary A thief…

    Always Darkest

One of the biggest themes of the Elesara Series is morality and what defines right and wrong. Always Darkest, by Jess and Keith Flaherty, is another story that dives into that hefty topic. Reading Always Darkest, I find myself weaving through shorter, pointed, chapters that paint a vivid picture without overloading you with information and backstory. It’s a story where the pages fly past you as you read, and you don’t want to put it down until you know more. The story deals with angels and demons, with many names you may know, but Jess and Keith write in a way that explains and personifies each character enough that any…

    The Brotherhood

We’ve all heard the line and one ring to rule them all, and I think one of the greatest challenges of writing is finding your own voice in a sea of themes that have been used before, sometimes with great popularity. When I first saw the ring line, the one you’re about to read, Lord of the Rings did flash through my mind. Breaking away from the underlying assumptions not just of how that story worked but of how that magic worked can be challenging. It can hurt an author. The Brotherhood was exciting for me, not just because I could easily break away from the ideas I had, but because when…

Throughout the month we intend to share some stories and pages for authors that may not be well known to you, but exist in a world where attention is scarce.
